Ubuntu is a computer operating system that is generally open source. There are a lot of different linux flavors. It is not Windows, nor is it Mac OS. Regardless of the flavor of Linux you have, it is an amazingly robust operating system. Unfortunately for those with magicJack devices, it means that the USB method cannot be used on your computer. If you cannot ask a friend to lend you their computer for registration, you may need to consider the router method.
