The Windows/Mac USB method isn’t working for me.

You’ll need to either use the router method, or use someone else’s Mac or Windows laptop or desktop computer to register your device. Alternatively, bring your device to someone else’s home and user their internet with your Mac or Windows laptop.

Your best bet is to ask a friend to let them borrow their computer to register. Once your device is activated, you can just uninstall the magicJack software from their system and connect your magicJack directly to your home router using Ethernet and the USB AC power adapter.

Additional reasons why even the USB method may not work:

  • Your firewall either on your computer or your router is blocking some sites, including magicJack’s sites.
  • Your router’s firewall has blocked some ports used by magicJack.
  • Your router is very old and doesn’t efficiently route newer protocols used by magicJack.
  • You’re trying to do this from the office, and your systems IT administrator has blocked certain ports on your router used by magicJack. Try from home or from a cafe hotspot.
