Help, Support, Hints and Fixes

It’s been a while since I did the first part, but now that I’m finished with my thesis, I’ve finished part two. It’s rather long, but it is full of insights that I learned while putting together my magicJack.

One of the most important things I learned about setting things up the way I did was that Google voice place a crucial role in how my phone system works.

All calls – business or family – come through the main google voice line. I’m able to answer from the home phone via magicJack or via computer using Skype In. If I need to transfer the phone from one venue to another, it’s as simple as pressing a button and picking up on Skype or the magicJack phone. I like that flexibility.

The down-side has been that we get messages strewn across three different message systems: the home phone message machine, magicJack’s phone messaging system and Google voice’s messaging system. Either way, the messages get to us, but it would be nice if I could get one messaging system to take all of them – preferable Google voice.

So here is the video. Please comment or ask questions.
